Somebody, something, somewhere: palabras para personas, cosas y lugares
A veces no decimos exactamente quién, qué o dónde. Decimos somebody, something o somewhere. Estas palabras son pronombres indefinidos. Se forman con cuatro palabras pequeñas (some, any, no, every) y cuatro terminaciones: body, one, thing y where.
Some- es para oraciones afirmativas: There is somebody at the door. I want something to drink. Any- es para preguntas y oraciones negativas: Is there anyone here? I don't know anything. I can't find my keys anywhere. Si usas un verbo negativo, usas any-.
No- ya tiene sentido negativo, así que el verbo va en afirmativo: There is nobody here. There is nothing in the box. No uses dos palabras negativas juntas. No se dice There isn't nobody here. Se dice There isn't anybody here o There is nobody here.
Nobody knows.
Los ejercicios de arriba practican los cuatro grupos, con some-, any-, no- y every- en oraciones afirmativas, preguntas y negativas.
Preguntas frecuentes
¿Cuándo uso some- y cuándo any-?
Usa some- en oraciones afirmativas: I want something to eat. Usa any- en preguntas y en negativas: Do you want anything to eat? I don't want anything. En ofrecimientos y peticiones, some- también es normal en una pregunta: Would you like something to drink?
¿Puedo decir 'I don't know nothing'?
Di I don't know anything o I know nothing.
Singular. Everybody significa todas las personas, pero el verbo va en singular: Everybody is here. Everybody likes music.
You can sit anywhere significa que cualquier lugar está bien. You can eat anything significa que cualquier comida está bien.
